Purpose of this Session
There are many warnings of false teachers and false teachings in the New Testament, and we are strongly encouraged to beware of them.
False teachers can be perceived when they display some or all of the following characteristics:
i. They teach wrong doctrine, twisting or denying the scriptures and seeking to teach only those things that will please their hearers (2Pet 2:1; 2Tim 4:3; 1Tim 4:1-5; 2Cor 4:2)
ii. They teach legalistic and controlling doctrines (Gal 3:1-2; 1Tim 1:3-7)
iii. They teach the traditions of men and not the Word of God (Mark 7:1-13)
iv. They teach for material gain, and not from a pure heart of service (Titus 1:10-11; 2 Pet 2:3).
